Monster Hunt

We had a fun Family Home Evening activity tonight. Ethan was in charge of activity and he announced that we would be going out and hunting monsters. So...after dark we were outside being chased by "bloodtoothed horses"(really the picnic table) protected by fairies( the street lamps) running to our shelter( the neighborhood mailbox) and avoiding all cracks (because everyone knows that if you step on a crack it will suck you in) We had to be extra quiet due to the sleeping horned monsters who would wake up and attack. We were finally safe when we touched the "Silver Castle"( the good old Dodge Minivan.) Seriously that boy has some imagination.

Aden asked me the other day at bedtime where do the monsters live? I told him far, far away. He then asked how they would they get to his house." I told him he lived to far away for them to come. He said, "I know, they'll follow the map. (dora the explorer) and then they'll get here. He was pretty scared about them getting him so then I tried to explain that monsters are only made-up and not real. That didn't go so well and I ended up sleeping with him for awhile so they wouldn't get him. Anyway, my point to that long tale, is that I think it's great Ethan can imagine things and yet know they're not real. Aden tends to be a pretty literal kind of a kid with a good imagination some times but sometimes things are a little too real for him. Thanks for the cute FHE-maybe we'll go a monster hunt. :)

Sounds like you guys had a fun time. What a great idea and I love that Ethan was in charge. It's a good opportunity to give them a little bit of responsibility.

HeY Andrea--you asked me about my camera and I forgot to get back to you sooner. I have a Nikon D40--I love it--it is really easy to use if you are a beginner SLR user--and I have been SO pleased with almost all of our pictures.

Let me know if ya have any other questions--
