So, when I came home from the hospital I had a rough patch. I was throwing up(I know you didn't want to know that. I am sorry for possibly ruining your lunch but it pertains to the story so stick with me) I couldn't walk up and down our stairs, I threatened the children's lives if they even came within feet of my incision, and basically overall I think it was the first time in the boys lives they ever saw someone really sick.
Well things have begun to look up for me. I am feeling much better, moving around pretty great and in the last day or so I finally feel like things are starting to get back to normal around here. Hallelujah right?
Oddly enough, as soon as I was on the mend Ethan has developed some strange phantom illness with symptoms unlike any I've ever seen. You diagnose it.
  • He has a raging fever...unfortunately our thermometers don't work on his kind of fever. Our thermometers read a cool 98.6 but he has informed me they are broken and he is actually much closer to 300 degrees.
  • He can't walk and definitely can't climb stairs. He begs me to carry him( which is definitely out of the question right now) and moans as he slowly drags himself up the stairs.
  • He screams if anyone even goes near his leg. His leg hurts SOOOOOOO bad and he doesn't think he will ever be able to walk on it again.
  • He actually asked to go to bed early last night because he is "just too sick to be out of bed."
So....any ideas. Should I go along with this? What is going on here?

My little sister went through this a couple years ago, turned out to be a growth spurt. At least that is my guess.

my initial thought was that somewhere in his lttle mind he wanted the same attention you've recently received, maybe with a little mix of that rivlary thing kids go through with their parents. but wow..he's a good 'lil actor if so. (looks like he gets those genes from his momma!) are you really worried about this? or is it still at the joking stage? ronnie did have growing pains, i remember feeling really bad for him. he said they felt like "charlie horses."

So funny . . . My son did something like this after my C-section with baby #2-- We just gave him as much TLC as we could and he felt better in no time!! So glad you are starting to feel better--I have decided there is nothing as awful as recovering from abdominal surgery . . .

my daughter does things like this when i'm ill. esp. when i was preggers with her little brother. (pregnancies are amongst my worst illnesses :)) i basically just baby her for a couple of days, and then ignore her after that if she continues. i think it's a mixture of insecurity cause mommy is sick, and mommies are infallible and not supposed to get sick, and they see all the attention you are getting, and they want some because again, you're the mommy, and mommies are supposed to give attention, not get it. you're not following the rules, lol!!
